I clicked to start the program, but it won’t open, why?
If this happens the program is already open, but is asleep. Check the program tray at the bottom right hand corner of your screen, right click on the Praying Hands icon and select “show.” This will bring up the program.

Can I have more than one user using the program?
The software comes with two licenses and can be loaded on two separate machines. It can also be loaded into separate user accounts on the same machine. The program does not allow you to maintain separate request journals for the same user account.

Can I edit a request?
Yes, just click on the request title to change it. The memo box can be edited the same way. You can also copy the request memo and put it into any document program. You can also move text from another document, like an email, and place it into the memo section. You can also edit a request that has been moved to the Answered Journal to reflect an answer to the request. The answered prayer titles will appear in the “My Answered Prayers” window.

How long can a request be?
The request line can be up to 50 characters long, but we encourage people to keep this section as short and simple as possible. If there is anything that you want to add to the request, this can be done in the memo section. Each memo section can hold a little over 65,000 characters, about 20 typed pages.

How many requests can I have?
The amount of requests you can have is so large that it would be difficult to reach a point where the program could not take any more requests. For instance 10,000 requests in both the Request and Answered Journals, may take only 10 MB of space.

How do I delete requests?
You delete a request by first sending it to the Answered Journal and then by highlighting the request line and pressing the delete ( Del) key on your keyboard.

Once I move a request to the “Answered Journal” can I move it back to the “Request Journal?”
Once a request has been sent to the Answered Journal, you cannot move it back to the “Request Journal.” If you have a request in the Answered Journal you want to put back into the Request Journal, you will need to create a new request with the same title. Once the new request is added to the “Request Journal,” go to the “Answered Journal” highlight the memo and copy it. Go back to the “Request Journal” and paste the old memo into the memo section for the new request.

How can I order (sort) the requests?
The requests can be sorted by request title (alphabetically), priority, topic, date, or count. The default sort order is first by priority and then by date. The program brings requests that have not been prayed for recently to the top of the Journal, directly below all your priority requests. If you sort the requests, to get the Journal back to the default sort order select “Default Sort Order” from the options menu.

How do I share prayer requests?
There are three ways you can share requests using PC Prayer Reminder. The first is by creating an export file with your selected prayer requests in it. This file can be sent to anyone who has PC Prayer Reminder, and they can import it into their Request Journal. Secondly, an email can be created that contains the requests in the body of the email. This way someone without PC Prayer Reminder can see the requests and pray for them. Finally, prayer requests be printed and shared with anyone.

Is there a way for my small group to share requests with everyone in the group?
Yes, you can share requests with an entire group. We suggest that one person in the group act as a group contact person. They can add the group’s prayer requests to their Journal. Then they can send an email with a file containing the group’s requests. The other members of the group will then be able to import the requests into PC Prayer Reminder. If someone in the group does not have the program, they can receive an email with the requests in the body of the email, or get a printed copy of the requests.

I have a web based email account (like hotmail or yahoo). Can I send out an email from
PC Prayer Reminder using this email account?
You cannot send out an email directly from PC Prayer Reminder using a web based email account. You may copy the message from the “Export Request List.” Highlight the message in the window and hold Ctrl and press C (Ctrl+C) to copy the email, then paste the message into a new email.

When I am in the export window and click the build option, at the bottom of the text,
it says “Not configured.” What is this and how do I fix this?
This happens because you have not configured the export function. If you have not configured this, you will still be able to print, but not email from the program. To configure the export function, go to Options and select “Email Export Setup.” Fill in the fields that say “not configured.”

How do I configure the email to send messages directly from PC Prayer Reminder?
To configure the email, go to the options menu item and select “Email Export Setup.” The configurable option is SMTP Server. This is your email server. To set this option, follow the directions in the help section of PC Prayer Reminder. You may also contact your ISP to ask them for your out going mail server information.

How do I send an email to more than one person at a time?
You can send multiple messages from PC Prayer Reminder, but you must enter the email addresses every time you send an email. You may enter multiple email addresses by separating each address with a semi-colon. If you are trying to send an email to more than a couple of people, we suggest that you email it to your own email account and then forward that email to your distribution list.

Reminder Questions
What is a “Bullet Prayer”?
Why do I see the same bullet twice in a row?
I don’t want bullets with sensitive information to show when the reminder window comes up. How can I keep this from happening?
Back to the top of the F.A.Q page.>>
What is a “Bullet Prayer”?
“Bullet Prayer” is the name given to the prayer request in the automated reminder window. The idea of the “Bullet Prayer” came from the desire to fulfill 1 Thessalonians 5:17, where Paul encourages believers to pray without ceasing. The “Bullet Prayer” is a prayer request that allows a user to pray quickly, if they cannot stop what they are doing and use the Prayer Journal.

Why do I see the same bullet twice in a row?
There are two reasons this happens. First, if you select “Pray Later” the next time the reminder comes up, that request will still be the “Bullet Prayer.” The other reason that the “Bullet Prayer” may show up twice in a row is that they are randomly pulled from your Request Journal. The more prayer requests that you have in your “Prayer Journal,” the less likely it will be for a request to appear twice in a row. “My Answered Prayers” and “Praise, Confession and Thanksgiving” which appear in the windows at the upper right hand corner of the program are also selected randomly.

I don’t want bullets with sensitive information to show when the "Pray Now" reminder window comes up. How can I keep this from happening?
Since the “Bullet Prayers” are generated randomly, there is no way to select which requests you want, or don’t want to see as “Bullet Prayers.” The best way to keep sensitive information out of the “Bullet Prayers” is not to put sensitive information into the title of a request. Make the request title generic, so you can remember it, then put anything that may be sensitive into the memo section.
